Membership is only offered to those who are Jewish (your mother would be Jewish or you will have formally converted to Judaism). Please note that you may be asked to provide documented proof via a parents (or your own marriage Katubah) or your conversion certificate. Your birth certificate will not necessarily provide proof of your religion at birth.
The synagogue Council is pleased to announce a new membership opportunity for members of the Jewish faith wishing to join SDRS but who are unable to because of ties to another synagogue membership and burial society.
The new 'Country' membership will be charged at £50 per annum and gives the member rights to purchase tickets for High Holiday services and the communal Seder at member rates as well as serve on any Council sub-committee.
Those wishing to join under the 'Country' membership scheme will be asked to prove they could not leave their present synagogue because of burial restrictions. 'Country' members will not be entitled to serve on Council or vote in meetings. No entitlement to burial rights will be given, as 'Country' members will continue to pay membership and burial fees to their alternative synagogue.
Also a reminder of the new 'Young Adults' membership passed at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on Sunday, 25th January 2009.
The new 'Young Adults' membership scheme' is split into two categories: -
· Single Adult age 21 to 25 years of age - £60 per annum · Single adult age 26 to 30 years of age - £100 per annum
Those under the age of 21 years who are permanently living away from home or are married are not covered by their parent's membership but will be eligible to join the Young Adults Membership Scheme (£60).
